Nancy Guthrie update: Petition demands Sheriff's office take fresh action after personal loss
Petition asks sheriff's office to allow private investigation group in Nancy Guthrie search

80 days have passed since Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old old woman, went missing from her home near Tucson, Arizona.

With cops so far producing no suspect in her disappearance case, private citizens, it appears, are taking matters into their own hands.

In this regard, Cherise "Pebbles" Wilson, an independent journalist, began a petition calling Sheriff Chris Nanos to allow the help from the United Cajun Navy, a volunteer rescue group.

Wilson's efforts come as she herself suffered a similar pain.

“I lost my vulnerable grandmother a couple of years ago, and Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance pulled at my heartstrings,” she tells Fox.

With signatures on her petition growing to over 600, Wilson says, “Knowing that somebody took advantage of a loving lady, an elderly lady like that, is really disturbing.”

On the other hand, the Cajun Navy's 41-page proposal, shared days after Guthrie went missing, stated they are open to working under the sheriff's office to search for Savannah's mom.

Josh Gill, who is the group's incident commander, tells Fox, “We want permission from the lead agency. I don’t think there would be any harm; I think it would be one step closer to providing some closure not just to the family or the community, but to the nation.”

However, the twist here is that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) has yet to greenlight the Cajun Navy to become part of the search.

With a whopping $1 million reward, Guthrie has not yet been located, and her mystery grows deeper.
