'The Devil Wears Prada' star Meryl Streep makes bombshell confession about her first fashion show
Meryl Streep has finally shared how she felt when she attended her first fashion show while filming the second installment of The Devil Wears Prada.
On Monday, April 20, Streep, with her co-stars Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt, joined SiriusXM’s Front Row, where she opened up about modelling for the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2026 show in September 2025.
The 76-year-old versatile American actress told host Andy Cohen that the show was her “first fashion show” that she’s ever attended.
Calling to mind that time, she said, “I was so excited. You know me in my real life. I have never been to a fashion show, clearly. It was really exciting, and I didn't know it was so theatrical.”
“Nobody knew where I was looking. That was so good. Now I know why she does that,” the Mamma Mia! star noted, alluding to her Devil Wears Prada character Miranda Priestly’s signature eyewear.
The conversation then turned to her iconic role in the second film. Discussing her character, Streep said, “I just wanted to create my own Miranda.”
“I wanted to have it be my own thing, and who I would be if I were in charge because that's my dream — just hasn't ever happened,” she quipped.
It is pertinent to mention that the forthcoming follows Priestly, who “struggles against Emily Charlton [played by Blunt], her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amid declining print media, while Miranda nears retirement.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1, 2026. Watch the trailer here.
