Princess Anne sticks to 'formalities' amid hilarious moment at Six Nations finale
Princess Anne and Scotland's team captain Sione Tuipulotu had an unexpectedly funny moment at the Six Nations final
Princess Anne, who was present at the Six Nations final where France and Scotland faced off, had a hilarious moment when the latter team's captain, Sione Tuipulotu, tried to hug her.
But in return, King Charles's sister observed royal formalities and shook hands when she presented the Alud Alliance Trophy to the winning captain.
Gabby Logan, who is the match's TV presenter, quipped, “He always goes for the hug, but Princess Anne is sticking with the formalities and hands him over the trophy.”
Meanwhile, Anne has a long-time relationship with the Scottish Rugby Union. She has served as a patron for nearly three decades.
In addition, the royal member has often frequented Murrayfield – the union's stadium – since the 1980s.
The Scottish Rugby Union has described Anne as a “long-standing and committed supporter of Scottish rugby".
But for Anne, rugby is not the only sport she loves; horse riding is another.
More so, she is known for her horse riding. She had even competed in the 1976 Olympics in equestrian, making her the first British royal to take part in the event.
Married twice, Anne has two children. Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall.
