Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor wanted Eugenie's big day to outshine Prince Harry's?
Ex-Prince Andrew made sure his daughter Princess Eugenie's wedding was no less than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's
Former-Prince Andrew was reportedly determined that his daughter Princess Eugenie's wedding was also as grand as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's.
According to new claims, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor pushed hard behind-the-scenes to ensure that Eugenie's 2018 wedding to Jack Brooksbank was also treated as a major royal event. However, the ceremony also took place at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, which was the same venue where Harry and Meghan's wedding took place earlier that year.
As quoted by People Magazine, Andrew Lownie, the author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, revealed, "She’s a granddaughter of the Queen — a princess of the blood. He believed she should get everything."
In an interview with ITV's This Morning, which broadcast his daughter's wedding day, ex-Prince Andrew stated, "It will not be the same as the previous one that was held in May. This is not a public wedding, this is meant to be a family wedding."
"There'll be a few more people than most people have. There are a few more than Harry had, but that's just the nature of Eugenie and Jack — they've got so many friends that they need a church of that size to fit them all in," he added.
This comes as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is at the center of controversy surrounding his links to Jeffrey Epstein. But, insiders recently told the outlet that the former Duke's daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice want "to hold on to their royal status" while their dad's scandal has casted show over their family.
"It’s their identity," the insider noted.
