Andrew pushes for major deal with King Charles to avoid jail
King Charles younger brother former Duke of York Andrew was recently arrested and released
Former Duke of York Andrew has agreed to offer King Charles a major deal to avoid jail following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office over allegations he sent confidential government documents to Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was released from police custody on Thursday evening after he was questioned all day by detectives from Thames Valley Police.
Earlier this month, the police force said it was looking into allegations that he had passed documents to the late convicted offender while working as a trade envoy.
Amid this crisis, royal expert Rob Shuter has claimed, “former Prince Andrew offers to quit line of succession to avoid jail.”
In his latest substack, Rob Shuter writes the former Duke “pushes deal for lifetime home, horses relocated — and daughters’ titles protected.”
He said as legal pressure intensifies, sources say Andrew is ready to make his boldest move yet — voluntarily removing himself from the line of succession as part of a deal to avoid prison.
Andrew currently sits eighth in line to the throne.
“The cleanest way to remove him would be for Andrew to renounce his position himself. Otherwise, it would require coordinated legislation across all 56 Commonwealth realms — a constitutional headache no one wants,” the insider said.
But the sources insisted this is less about constitutional mechanics and more about self-preservation.
Another insider said, “He would sacrifice his place in a second if it keeps him out of a cell. Jail is the one outcome he cannot control.”
