Buckingham Palace’s secrecy over Andrew lands them in trouble: ‘You’re just prolonging the agony!’
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has just been branded an eroding substance, that, upon protecting damages trust
Buckingham Palace warned they are ‘eroding’ trust by protecting Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, in a new claim by his unofficial biographer Andrew Lownie.
The royal expert said all this on his personal Substack and it highlighted the Cabinet Office’s bid to block the release of documents related to Andrew, during his time as a trade envoy.
The documents, seen by journalists in the country before getting pulled included a revelation that any change in rules would mean the then-Prince Andrew would be funded by the Royal Travel Office during his jorney’s oversees, rather than the former Department of Trade and Industry. This move would add £90,000 to its budget, and locations discussed include China, Russia, south-east Asia and Spain.
Now as part of his own take Mr Lownie says, “Those in power would no doubt argue that releasing these files would be more damaging to the reputation of the monarchy and government than continuing to withhold them.”
But the thing is that “even if one were prepared to accept this profound moral abrogation, the reality is that the damage is already being done,” he wrote.
If that was not bad enough Mr Lownie also adds, “The drip-drip of corroborated evidence and genuinely shocking revelations relating to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor makes one thing clear: secrecy is prolonging the agony.”
“Each new disclosure further erodes trust and ensures that reputational damage will continue, unresolved, until the full truth is finally acknowledged and addressed,” he concluded by writing.
