Anthony Geary made record on TV that is hard to happen today
Anthony Geary’s record is related to his performance as Luke Spencer in 'General Hospital'
Anthony Geary, a towering television icon, has passed away. He was 76. He was best known for his performance as Luke Spencer on General Hospital.
In the soap opera, he achieved a significant feat that seems hard to replicate today. His on-screen romance with Genie Francis, who played Laura Webber, was so popular that when their wedding episode aired in 1981, it broke all records.
A total of 30 million viewers tuned in, making the episode the highest-rated in the soap category. Back to his tragic death, the late actor’s husband, Claudio Gama, confirmed his passing.
He tells TV Insider, “It was a shock for me and our families and our friends. For more than 30 years, Tony has been my friend, my companion, my husband.”
Anthony's death occurred from a complication in a medical procedure. His family, meanwhile, did not specify what kind of surgery he was having.
Meanwhile, the actor, born in Utah, moved to Los Angeles in the 1960s. He made his debut in Room 222 in 1970. Following this, he appeared in other projects, including All in the Family, Dan August, The Mod Squad, and The Partridge Family.
Moreover, Anthony has been nominated for 17 Daytime Emmys and has won 8.
