Stranger Things is coming to an end, so Shawn Levy, who serves as executive producer on Netflix's critically acclaimed show, is teasing the finale of the story.
“A finale that's as good as any TV series finale I've seen in my life, and a resolution to the whole Jancy Stancy controversy/triangle," he tells People, referring to Nancy Wheeler, Steve Harrington, and Jonathan Byers' characters and who she will choose from the two.
Besides this, Shawn also reflects on the show's ending, which ran for nearly a decade. “I guess there was this umbrella of bittersweet that sort of was across the whole shoot because we knew how special this was."
He continues, “We knew that these connections are forever, but we knew it was coming to a close. And so that sort of smile with tears in your eyes, that feeling was very prevalent all year long.”
As season five reportedly drew 59.6 million viewers, it became the streamer's top English-language show at its premiere.
Moreover, he also sheds light on what he believes is the reason behind the show's success. “There's so much talk about the '80s and the monsters and the music, but I think the secret sauce is the fact that it's epic cinematic storytelling with very intimate character stories.”
“It's the combination of the huge and the very small and personal that I think is the magic," Shawn notes.
Stranger Things Vol. 2 will be released on Dec. 25.
