Kate Winslet gives advice to herself on 'Goodbye June'
Kate Winslet not only starred but also made her directorial debut with 'Goodbye June'
Kate Winslet, in Goodbye June, not only starred in but also made her directorial debut. So, on her shoulders, there are high expectations.
In this regard, she was asked at a Q&A for the Christmas family drama at the Paris Theatre in New York City.
"What was your best director note for you, the actor, playing Julia?" she was asked. In reply, the actress adds, "Don't f*** it up," adding, "I think that's always my note to myself anyway."
The movie's plot, meanwhile, was written by Joe Anders, Kate's son, and centres on four siblings caring for their ailing mother.
For the Titanic star, this story hit close to home, recalling memories of her own mother, Sally Bridges-Winslet. She died in 2017 from ovarian cancer.
The actress's late mom wanted the UK's NHS to treat her fully; however, Kate previously shared that due to some reasons, the family decided to shift her to a private ward.
"When my mother died, she did end up in a private ward. We all felt horribly conflicted about it," she previously told the Daily Mail.
She continued, "I'm really sharing now, because I haven't said any of this… her oncology care had been entirely NHS, and just towards the end, something happened to her and the only bed we could get for her quickly was on a private ward."
"We all felt really upset for her, because she was so adamant she wanted NHS all the way," the actress concluded.
Goodbye June is playing in cinemas and will drop on Netflix on Dec 24.
