John Cena is sharing a rare insight into his bond with his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh.
In a recent chat with sports reporter Tom Rinaldi, the WWE star reflected on his life and career as his retirement from professional wrestling nears.
In the exclusive interview shared with People, the reporter asked John whose approval he seeks at this stage of his career.
“The answer would change over the years, but whose approval matters to me today? I certainly got to run it by my wife because she’s my partner,” John responded to the reporter.. “She’s the one person, we run a three-legged race. So, it’s her and that’s it.”
It is pertinent to mention that on December 13, John is going to wrestle former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at WWE’s Saturday Night Main Event on Peacock, which the record-breaking 17-time WWE champion declared that it's going to be the last professional wrestling match of his career.
The Fast X star, who tied the knot in 2020, shared in a previous talk with Howard Stern in 2024 how and where he met his wife first time.
"So I got a picture with her, and then she brought by my wife-to-be over, we have our first fan photo, which we hang proudly where we hang our hats. It's awesome," Cena recalled during the chat
"I asked her for her number and she gave me her number, and I didn't wait like the two days [to reach out]. I left the restaurant and on my walk home I [texted], 'It was so nice to meet you, you're beautiful, I'd like to get to know you more if you have any free time coming up I'll make time for you.' She's like, 'You want to go out this weekend?' I said, 'Sure.' "
