With years upon years of questions against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s finances, a pal of the couple has come forward to bash the Royal Family over their uses of the Crown Estate. This pal in question is Bryony Gordon and according to The Mirror has just called out the “paltry” rental agreements that the Firm enjoys in a lengthy take down.
He started by accusing the Firm’s members of using British taxpayers to subsidize their rent while the rest of the world calls out the Sussexes for their monthly bills inside Montecito.
He’s even gone as far as to say that they are “sitting on their laurels doing absolutely nothing” all while the Sussexes are earning their keep in the US.
What is pertinent to mention regarding this call out, is that its been sparked by an inquiry launched by Westminster's Public Accounts Committee after a report by the royal estate that Prince William and Princess Kate pay an “open market rent” on Forest Lodge, under htier 20-year non-assignable lease.
What is also pertinent to mention about the Windsor’s lease is that there are essentially two of them, one fixed at £700 a year and the other at a rising scale of £2,700 per year or £225 per month.
This led Gorden to write in a column for the Daily Mail “it seems especially petty when so many royals are currently sitting on their bottoms doing sweet nothing in the lavish houses our taxes pay for.”
“Indeed, when I read about the grifter formerly known as Prince Andrew being allowed to pay 'peppercorn' rent on Royal Lodge for another year. I find Harry and Meghan's approach refreshing.”
Furthermore she added, “doing actual work to pay for your own house suddenly doesn't seem like such a bad idea for the royals if they want a future.”
