'Red Sparrow’ actor Matthias Schoenaerts reportedly sentenced to six months
Matthias Schoenaerts in trouble for repeatedly driving without a license
Matthias Schoenaerts has reportedly been handed a six-month prison sentence in Belgium after several driving-related offenses.
A statement from the Limburg Police Court, dated December 1, says the Supergirl and Red Sparrow actor, 47, was convicted of driving without a valid license on multiple occasions between April 5 and April 21, 2024, per Belga News Agency and Deadline.
Authorities said Schoenaerts was first stopped while riding a loaned motorcycle without proper documents.
Although the bike was later confirmed to be registered and insured, investigators found that he had been officially disqualified from driving since September 2021 for failing to complete required exams.
His license has been held by the court since January 2023.
Belga also reported that he was detained again on November 21 in Pelt after allegedly driving without a license and refusing a breath test.
The court found him guilty of two counts of driving without a valid license, along with failing to show proof of insurance on April 5. He also has 11 prior police service records.
Besides the six-month sentence, he has also received a one-year driving ban, mandatory medical and psychological tests, and a €4,000 fine.
Court spokesperson Luc De Cleir told Belgian outlet Belgia that he is unlikely to serve actual prison time.
