Dave Coulier admits to being 'thankful for the first cancer' amid new diagnosis
Dave Coulier gets honest about his back-to-back cancer diagnosis
Dave Coulier recently got candid and shared the realities of his new cancer diagnosis.
For those unaware, the 66-year-old American actor and comedian has been diagnosed with p16 squamous carcinoma, a type of head and neck cancer, just a few months after he was declared cancer-free, as he defeated stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Coulier, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in November 2024, went for his six-month check-up and PET scan, where doctors informed him about a flare-up around the oropharynx, which turned out to be p16 squamous carcinoma after further investigation.
While conversing with PEOPLE magazine, he opened up about his new diagnosis by saying, “I'd been feeling great, so I went into shock.”
The Thirteenth Year alum stated that he first thought the tumour was related to his lymphoma but it was a completely different type.
He remarked, “It turns out, if I hadn’t had that PET scan, then they wouldn’t have had this early of a detection and I’d have been in in a world of pain soon. So, as weird as this sounds, I’m now actually thankful for the first cancer, because it helped me detect this second one.”
The Full House star is determined to deal with cancer the same way he did the first time, as he quipped, “It’s a battle, but I’m battling through.”
Before concluding, it is significant to mention that Dave Coulier is currently in the middle of his 35 rounds of targeted radiation and will get his last round on December 31, 2025.
