Jeremy Allen White honoured with Cultural Icon tribute at Gotham Awards 2025
Jeremy Allen White received one of the 2025 Gotham Awards' biggest honours for his role in the Springsteen biopic
Jeremy Allen White is speaking his heart out as he received the honour of the 2025 Gotham Independent Film Awards for his performance in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.
“We’re very grateful that Bruce allowed us into [his] space. And to tell a story he had never told himself and never mythologized,” The Bear star says in his acceptance speech.
He continues, “He let us meet him at his most human, vulnerable, searching and that kind of trust is rare. It is a gift and it is the reason this film exists at all.”
“So to receive this award to tonight for portraying a culture icon by refusing to treat him like one, is something we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.”
Along with him, the biopic’s director, Scott Cooper, also received the Cultural Icon Tribute Award at Cipriani Wall Street.
Last November, the Gotham Film & Media Institute announced that it would honour the director-actor duo at the annual ceremony.
Jeffrey Sharp, who is executive director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, said at the time, “Bruce Springsteen has captivated audiences for more than fifty years and cemented his place as one of the greatest American musicians, songwriters, and performers in history."
She noted, “We are proud to celebrate Bruce’s legacy with writer-director Scott Cooper, whose film captures the intimacy and humanity at the heart of Nebraska, and Jeremy Allen White, whose performance reveals a raw, searching portrait of Springsteen at a crossroads."
"Their collaboration embodies the kind of filmmaking that defines The Gotham community.”
The award at the 2025 Gotham Awards is a nod to Jeremy's performance as Bruce Springsteen, which received much praise from fans and critics alike.
