Van Damme on Saturday shared a video featuring his meeting with Donald Trump at the president's office
Actor Jean-Claude Van Damme on Saturday shared what appeared to be an AI-generated video featuring moments with US President Donald Trump, sparking criticism from some of his fans.
"Let's use sports and martial arts as a bridge to bring people together and peace among nations," read the actor's message accompanying the video shared on his Instagram.
"Goodbye, JCVD. Loved you forever, but it's time to say goodbye," said a fan in the comments section, unhappy with the actor sharing the video containing photos the US president.
"Hello, you're much better than that. Please don't align yourself with anyone; you're unique forever. Your hands aren't stained with anyone's blood," said another.
Thousands of people liked his Instagram post, with only a handful of fans realizing that that it was not an original video.
According to official records and media reports, no such meeting took place between Donald Trump and the Belgian actor.
