Prince Anne wraps Australia visit with a bang, rushes to airport

Princess Anne, the 75-year-old sister of the monarch, gave a tough competition to young royals as she undertook a series of royal engagements and represented King Charles her busy Australian tour.

The ‘hardest-working royal’ concluded her four-day visit in Brisbane as she marked Remembrance Day service at Gallipoli Barracks in Enoggera.

While King Charles’s loyal sister had met with the public during her engagements in Sydney, her Tuesday events were strictly limited to military duties.

The Princess Royal, who has been a colonel-in-chief of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, was accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, laid down a wreath to honour the fallen soldiers, which was then followed by a briefing on regiments’ capabilities.

Anne had also attended a reception where she met with soldiers and veterans along with their families.

To conclude her final day in Down Under, she fired the starting pistol for a relay race, and watched a game of tug of war. She then unveiled a ceremonial sculpture to mark the RASigs’ 100th birthday.

“Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this celebration, to see just the range of activities that you do now and the pride that you take in that,” she told the crowd of her visit.

The Princess Royal will now be rushing to her next destination, Singapore, with her husband to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom.
