Arnold Schwarzenegger's dream comes true with 'The Running man' remake
Arnold Schwarzenegger applauded Glen Powell's modern take on 'The Running Man'
Arnold Schwarzenegger recently saw one of his long-held wishes come true.
The 78-year-old recently reunited with Glen Powell and director Edgar Wright at the premiere of 2025's The Running Man, a remake of his 1987 film of the same name.
'The only movie that I always wanted to have redone of my movies was The Running Man,' Schwarzenegger told Wright, 51, and Powell, 37.
'So now, this one really upped it and did exactly that. The action was unbelievable and creative.'
The original film, directed by Paul Michael Glaser and loosely adopted from Stephen King's novel written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, featured a star-studded cast including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Conchita Alonso, Richard Dawson, Yaphet Kotto, Jim Brown, and Jesse Venture.
Set in a dystopian future, the story followed Schwarzenegger's character, Ben Richards a former military captain who is captured and forced to take part in a brutal, government controlled game show as The Running Man.
Nearly forty years later, Glen Powell is reimagining the iconic style with his own interpretation.
Alongside Powell, the upcoming remake will also star William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Colman Domingo, Josh Brolin, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, Daniel Ezra, and Jayme Lawson.
Before officially joining the project, Powell felt it was important to seek Arnold Schwarzenegger's approval and he did just that.
