Prince William announces Earthshot Prize winners: Photo released

Prince William has finally announced winners of Earthshot Prize Council.
Luciano Huck, Brazilian television presenter, hosted the lavish ceremony, which featured musical performances from pop sensation Anitta and international star Kylie Minogue.
Environmental innovators from Brazil, Colombia, Nigeria, Bangladesh and a global ocean initiative have secured £1 million each at the prestigious Earthshot Prize ceremony held at Rio de Janeiro's Museum of Tomorrow.
Names of Earthshot Prize 2025 Winners
Brazilian organisation re.green claimed the nature protection award, whilst Bogotá won for air quality improvements, the High Seas Treaty for ocean conservation, Lagos Fashion Week for waste reduction, and Bangladesh's Friendship organisation for climate solutions.
The prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram account delighted fans with the video of celebration in Rio de Janeiro.
Kensington palce wrote: 'In case you missed it… last night Rio hosted an unforgettable celebration of innovation, hope, and action for The 2025 Earthshot Prize Awards.'
It added, 'From bold ideas to groundbreaking solutions, our Finalists and Winners are showing the world how we can repair and protect our planet — together.'
The winners were chosen by the Prince of Wales and the Earthshot Prize Council.
The awards recognise groundbreaking solutions across five environmental categories: protecting nature, cleaning air, reviving oceans, eliminating waste and addressing climate change.
The Britain's future king, who established the prize in 2020, addressed the audience at the ceremony, which attracted massive praise from royal fans.
On fan wrote in the comments secion: 'I absolutely loved every second of last night! Everyone was incredible! Thank you for bringing the Earthshot Prize to Brazil and for speaking a bit of Portuguese and posting in Portuguese too. It's a great honor to have you here! Congratulations to this year's winners.
Another added: 'Awesome speech. From our wonderful future King William.'
The ceremony marked the culmination of an extensive selection process that evaluated almost 2,500 submissions from 72 nations worldwide.
