Buckingham Palace issues future update about Queen Elizabeth's darling
Andrew and Sarah Ferguson call time on cohabitation
The Royal Lodge may be losing its most controversial resident, but the corgis aren’t going anywhere.
Following King Charles’s decision to strip Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor of his remaining titles and show him the palace door, speculation has turned from royal scandal to something far fluffier, who will care for the late Queen’s beloved pets?
Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, currently share the Windsor mansion with an entourage that includes seven dogs among them the late Queen Elizabeth’s cherished corgis, Muick and Sandy.
The pair became part of the Duke’s household after her passing in 2022, fittingly returning to the son who gifted them to her in the first place.
While Buckingham Palace has confirmed that “the corgis will remain with the family,” it stopped short of revealing which branch of the York clan will roll out the red carpet for them next.
Whether they trot off with Andrew and Sarah to new digs, or settle into life with Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, one thing’s certain these royal pups will continue to live like true blue bloods, no matter whose sofa they end up on.
According to HELLO!, he is expected to move to a property on the Sandringham estate possibly York Cottage or Gardens House, the former home of the estate’s head gardener.
Sarah Ferguson, meanwhile, will make her own arrangements marking the end of their unconventional but long running cohabitation at the Lodge.
The couple’s unique living arrangement which Sarah once admitted “worked because Royal Lodge is a big house” is now coming to a close, leaving not just the Yorks but their four legged family members facing a royal reshuffle.
HELLO!’s editor Rachel Avery notes that wherever the royal pups end up, their comfort will be a top priority.
“The dogs will influence the decision too, they’ll need adequate outdoor space. After all, they were used to 98 acres at Royal Lodge,” she says.
