Princess Eugenie steps back from emotional family reunion: Here's why
Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson's scandals 'fractured' the house of Yorks
Princess Eugenie avoided being in the spotlight after her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, "fractured" the Yorks due to their involvement in scandals.
After the former couple's lies were exposed via their email to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, King Charles and the extended royal family sat down to discuss Andrew and Fergie's future.
After key talks, a statement was released by the 65-year-old royal, announcing that he will no longer be using his title, the Duke of York and other honours, so the negative light won't affect the good work done by the royal family.
Since then, the ex pair are behind the walls of Royal Lodge.
Following the title drop, it has been reported that a summit has been held at the massive royal house, which was attended by Princess Beatrice, but Eugenie was nowhere to be seen.
An insider told Daily Mail, "The Royal Lodge 'summit' wasn’t a happy occasion and the family, once a strong unit, is fractured."
Speaking of Beatrice's situation, the source added, "She was on the phone saying she couldn’t bring herself to look at the Sunday papers. She looked absolutely devastated."
It has been said that Princess Eugenie stepped back from the family reunion due to the emotional turmoil the York sisters have been facing because of their parents.
Earlier, royal expert Ingrid Seward advised the sisters to drop their Princess titles, as it "would give them freedom from their parents, stop them being tarred with the same brush and be a clear sign that they want to make their own way in the world."
She added, "I think people would hugely respect them for it and, I think, ultimately, they would be happier."
