Jon Bon Jovi reveals how Bruce Springsteen and Jelly Roll came on board for iconic collaborations in Forever (Legendary Edition).
In the newly expanded version of Bon Jovi’s 2024 album, Springsteen, 76, lend his signature harmonica sound to the new edition of Hollow Man meanwhile the 40-year-old rapper and singer got featured in the track, Living Proof.
The It's My Life hitmaker recalled that after hearing the demo, his longtime new jersey peer called him the next morning, saying, "I can’t get that one out of my head."
"Now you know, you’re talking to not only your childhood hero but one of the great American songwriters of the last half century," he says of The Boss.
The singer and guitarist later agreed to contribute harmonica to the fan-favourite track. "I want it to be like that. Come and join my story," Bon Jovi said. "He said, 'I got it. Just leave it to me.'"
Talking about Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, on SiriusXM’s Bon Jovi Radio, the frontman recounted his first encounter with the Need a Favor singer.
"I was in love with him from that moment on," the Livin' On A Prayer chart topper said. "I’ve gotten to know Bunnie, his wife, and her story. I’m absolutely in awe of them."
Bon Jovi first met the Son of a Sinner singer at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles, where the latter performed in tribute to the band.
Forever (Legendary Edition) arrives as the band marks four decades together. The original Forever debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.
