Taylor Swift sparks excitement for collab with Backstreet Boys AJ McLean
Taylor Swift responds to AJ McLean's video featuring a mashup for their songs, 'Elizabeth Taylor' and 'Everybody'
Taylor Swift just sent fans into a frenzy after reacting to AJ McLean’s mashup of her new song.
Over the weekend, the Life of a Showgirl hitmaker sparked excitement for a potential collaboration with the Backstreet Boys star after he shared a remix by Lydia Getachew (lydgiggs) of the pop megastar’s latest hit Elizabeth Taylor.
In a clip posted Sunday, McLean sang Swift’s lyrics over the beat of the boy band’s classic Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).
“Come on now you know one of us had to!” he captioned the post, tagging Swift.
Swift was quick to notice, commenting, “OH HI AJ OH MY GOD,” instantly fueling fan theories about a future collab.
“@taylorswift collaborate this for real!! The millennial swifties will die for sure with this golden pop mashup!” one fan pleaded. Another added, “One step closer to this collab happening.”
McLean’s video arrives just weeks after Swift released her 12th studio album, which includes the tracks like Opalite, Fate of Ophelia, and, of course, Elizabeth Taylor. The multi-Grammy-winner, 35, has described the song as a reflection on fame “through the lens of cosplaying the life of Elizabeth Taylor.”
Meanwhile, McLean, 47, is preparing to drop his EP Hi, My Name Is Alex on November 27.
