King Charles joins forces with William in championing humanitarian aid
King Charles and Queen Camilla lead charge for Gaza relief
King Charles has urged people to “stand together in compassion and action” as he and Queen Camilla quietly made their third undisclosed donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s (DEC) Middle East Humanitarian Appeal, extending their continued support to those affected by the crisis in Gaza.
The monarch and his wife were among the first to contribute when the appeal launched last October, followed by a second donation in February.
Their latest act of generosity comes as charities involved in the appeal including CAFOD, the International Rescue Committee, the British Red Cross and Plan International ramp up relief efforts following the recent ceasefire, delivering urgently needed food, water and medicine to families in Gaza.
Saleh Saeed, Chief Executive of the DEC, praised the couple’s compassion, calling their donation “heartening” and noting that while aid is reaching those in need, “more funds are urgently required to meet the colossal scale of need.”
“We are grateful to King and Queen for their ongoing support of the DEC and our appeals. Their generosity is making a real difference as our charities scale up their work in Gaza.”
The King’s latest act of compassion follows his son, the Prince of Wales, publicly condemning the killing of humanitarian workers earlier this year.
