Robert Redford, a renowned American actor and director, had a very deep, true and longstanding friendship with late actor Paul Newman.
Unfortunately, Robert also passed away yesterday on September 16, but his memories and iconic projects will keep him alive in the hearts of fans.
Both Newman and Redford became good friends after starring in the 1969’s superhit movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
At the time, the 89-year-old said in an interview with ABC that the connection of playing those characters and the fun of it became the basis of their friendship.
The late star also revealed that during the shoot of the movie the two legendary actors discovered the commonalities they shared, which later multiplied over the time.
The first and core similar thing was that both began their career with stage and took their craft very seriously. They wanted to be respected for their work and not for the looks.
Radford and Newman shared the same kind of energy, which eventually got them cast into a classic 1973 film The Sting.
The duo were devoted family men. Robert and Paul were also philanthropist with the Indecent Proposal star mainly focusing on environment and independent filmmaking.
Whereas the Cool Hand Luke actor launched a food company and deposited all its profit to charity.
Sadly, Redford died in his sleep yesterday. Meanwhile, Newman passed away in 2008 at the age of 83 after battling with lung cancer.
