FBI releases two in Charlie Kirk assassination probe, investigation ongoing
FBI Director says regular updates will be shared in the interest of transparency
The U.S. security agencies continue a manhunt for Charlie Kirk’s killer. Two persons of interest have been released so far after initial questioning since the assassination.
The 31-year-old political commentator and a strong ally of President Trump was shot dead on the Utah Valley University campus on Wednesday, September 10.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel announced, “The subject in custody has been released after an interrogation by law enforcement,” adding that the agency’s investigation continues.
He added that regular updates will be shared in the interest of transparency.
In an interview with New York Post, the mother of the now-exonerated person of interest said, “My son is super shaken by the gruesome incident. He was just 25-feet away when Charlie was fatally shot.”
She continued, “He was attending the event just like any other college kid. He listens to him.”
The high profile killing has left the US shaken as the U.S. flag has been lowered to half-staff at the Heritage Action for America foundation after Kirk’s death.
After the two persons of interest were released, a new video of the alleged suspect began circulating on social media.
The video shows a person running on a building’s roof after one of the most prominent conservative Americans was shot dead.
