Coldplay’s Wembley Stadium shows will bid farewell to a groundbreaking three-year-long “Music of the Spheres” tour. The last show will be held on September 8, 2025.
A huge residency at Wembley Stadium is booked for the 10-show, making a record for the venue. The landmark tour witnessed a record-breaking attendance.
The three-year-long tour became the most attended tour in music history, with 12 million tickets sold and the first band to gross over $1 billion.
Chris Martin, the frontman of the Coldplay band, expressed sentiments about what the Wembley show means to the band. He thanked the audience on the first night of the residency for “letting us come at last.”
He also told the crowd that these 10 shows would be the band’s last performance in London for a while, making the event even more special.
The band communicated their intention to make this tour green and environmentally friendly by aiming to cut 50% carbon emissions from previous tours, utilising a recycled mobile battery system and kinetic dance floors.
Light-up wristbands given to the audience are made from plants and can be reused. These efforts help reduce a lot of waste. The uneaten food at concerts is distributed to people who need it.
An independent study from MIT stated that Coldplay successfully reduced carbon pollution by 59% and solar panels with recycled batteries were used for the show.
Coldplay is also donating a portion of the UK’s shows to the Music Venue Trust. This charity will help local and small music venues stay open. It will provide an opportunity for new artist to start their career.
