King Charles gives crucial task to Edward, Sophie as William, Kate step back
Buckingham Palace confirms Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie's upcoming foreign tours
King Charles assigned two important tasks to Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie as Prince William and Princess Kate stepped back from the public eye.
As reported by Express, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will be representing the monarch in Papua New Guinea and Japan in September.
The King's brother, Edward, will mark the 50th anniversary of Papua New Guinea’s independence from Australia by undertaking different royal engagements from September 14 to September 17.
Duchess Sophie and her husband will begin their Japan tour on September 18 in a bid to celebrate the good ties between the UK and Japan.
The couple's engagements "will focus on topics such as youth opportunity, sustainability and innovation, educating the next generation, and women in leadership."
Edward and Sophie's Japan tour will end on September 22.
It is important to mention that the Palace announced dates of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's foreign tours amid the Prince and Princess of Wales' silence.
The future King and Queen were nowhere to be seen during the 80th anniversary of VJ Day alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla, sparking questions about their absence from the public eye.
