China debuts first industrial humanoid robot with 275 TOPS brainpower
Shanghai Electric unveils humanoid robot worker, performing 275 trillion operations per second
China’s Shanghai Electric has recently launched the first humanoid robot “SUYUAN” at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2025 in Shanghai.
SUYUAN is featured with 38 degrees of freedom (DoF) and 275 TOPS (trillion operations per second) on-device computational power, allowing it to deliver dynamic movements and precise operations for various industrial applications.
The robot is also designed with human-like proportions as it is 167cm tall and weighs 50 kilograms. The most significant feature is its ability to handle up to 10 kg of total cargo and lift 2 kg objects with a single arm, demonstrating its dexterity to manage logistics and assembly line tasks.
The industrial robot moves at a speed of about 5 km/h. It also navigates complex industrial operations by leveraging a fusion of LiDAR and binocular vision technologies to accomplish self-guided mobility.
Moreover, AI-powered 275 TOPS helps in interpreting natural tasks and handling adaptive objects.
In pilot tests, SUYUAN autonomously identified, picked, positioned and managed mixed size boxes by using synchronized joint control and natural task interpretation.
This launch represents a major milestone in artificial intelligence advancements and humanoid robotics journey, further revolutionizing industrial manufacturing and logistics.
