Karan Johar recently opened up about the “hurtful” criticism he has faced as a single father.

The 53-year-old filmmaker, known for iconic projects like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, offered a glimpse into his personal life.

In an exclusive conversation with Mojo Story, Johar revealed that a troll had accused him of raising his children without a mother.

Reacting to the comment, he described it as “hurtful” and “ignorant”.

Later in the interview, the Koffee With Karan host recalled a heartfelt moment when he asked his children if they were happy with him.

He shared, “They said yes, and that’s what matters.”

Speaking about his journey as a single parent, Johar described it as both challenging and fulfilling.

“My kids are happy and cared for,” he added.

Following the emotional conversation, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani filmmaker addressed the issue of online trolling and urged for more empathy toward personal life choices.

Notably, the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director welcomed his children, Yash and Roohi, via surrogacy in 2017.

On the professional front, Johar is currently gearing up for two upcoming films, Sarzameen and Dhadak 2.

Sarzameen, starring Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Ibrahim Ali Khan, is slated for release on Friday, July 25.

Meanwhile, Dhadak 2, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, is set to hit theatres on Saturday, August 2.
