Aamir Khan opens up about daughter Ira's mental health struggles
Aamir Khan offers glimpse into his fatherhood after 'Sitaare Zameen Par' release
Aamir Khan offered a heartfelt glimpse into his journey as a father following the release of his new film Sitaare Zameen Par.
The Indian actor, known for his versatile performances, recently took a trip down memory lane and opened up about his daughter Ira Khan’s mental health struggles.
In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, the Rang De Basanti actor shared, “As a parent, your child’s pain hurts you more than your own.”
The 60-year-old star revealed that Ira showed signs of mental illness when she was around 18 or 19 years old and preparing to join Utrecht University.
He recalled receiving a distressing call from her while he was in Spain shooting for Laal Singh Chaddha.
Reflecting on the incident, he said he immediately flew and brought her back home, adding, “Even in Mumbai, it was tough. Depression is hard to handle.”
On the professional front, Aamir’s latest project, Sitaare Zameen Par, continues its steady run in theatres.
Sitaare Zameen Par, also featuring Genelia Deshmukh, is a sequel to the 2007 original Taare Zameen Par.
For the unversed, the new installment was released on Friday, June 20.
