Aamir Khan recently took a trip down memory lane and revealed that he turned down the role of Mohan Bhargava in Swades, which was eventually played by Shah Rukh Khan.
The Indian actor, widely acclaimed for his versatility, thrilled fans with his candid confession.
In an exclusive conversation with Zoom, the PK star shared, “When we were making Lagaan, Ashu (Ashutosh Gowariker) had told me this story. Her name was Kaveri Amma. I really liked the story, and we decided to make it after Lagaan.
Later in the interview, the 60-year-old superstar added that he had initially considered producing the film under his own banner.
Speaking to the outlet, he explained, “My reaction, I want to tell you first. I said I am bored. No matter how novel your thought is, what you want to say is a very important thing, but if you say it in such a boring way, then I will not enjoy it. I don’t know about the other people, I am bored.”
At that time, Aamir was working on Lagaan, which became a box office success and was nominated for an Academy Award.
Eventually, the King Khan was offered the role in the 2004 musical-drama, and his performance received critical acclaim.
On the professional front, the Dangal star is currently gearing up for his upcoming project Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par.
For the unversed, the 3 Idiots actor is also on a promotional spree for his new sports-drama, which is scheduled to release on June 20.
