Karan Johar recently opened up about his personal struggles, revealing that he is still single and currently on anxiety medication.
The Indian filmmaker, who also hosts the popular chat show Koffee With Karan, expressed ‘regret’ over being single during his latest appearance.
In a candid conversation with Raj Shamani, renowned Bollywood director shed light on his relationship status.
Speaking exclusively, the Kuch Kuch Hota hai director said, “I wish I could be in a relationship. I am not in a relationship. Because of who I am, it’s tough to trust easily or be… I don’t know, but it’s tough for me. The one thing that I regret in my life or an empty, dark, or unfulfilled area is the area of not being in a relationship.”
Later in the interview, the man behind Dharma Productions also revealed his ongoing struggle with social anxiety, sharing that he has started avoiding B-town parties due to discomfort.
Recalling an incident at an event, the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham director said that he suffered a panic attack, during which his hands and feet became “perspiring and uncontrollably” shaky.
Adding further details to his experience, he said, “I met my psychologist. Then I started medication. And I’m still on it. I take it on daily basis and hopefully, slowly I’ll wean it off.”
Johar, 52, admitted that despite being surrounded by family and friends, he often feels lonely – though not unhappy.
