Conan O’Brien breaks his silence over Adrien Brody’s record breaking Oscar speech
Conan O’Brien shared his thoughts on the six-minute long speech of Adrien Brody at the 97th Oscar Awards.
The Pianist actor become the two-time Oscar winner after he took home the award for the Best Actor for his role in The Brutalist.
His acceptance speech broke the record for being the longest acceptance speech in Oscar history.
O’Brien in a preview clip of the upcoming episode of his Conan O’Brien needs a Friend podcast obtained by New York Post, the comedian confessed he was "very close" to making a joke about the history-making speech.
However, previously he did manage to make in a joke about Brody’s speech in press release which announced his return to host the 98th annual Academy Award.
"The only reason I’m hosting Oscars next year is that I want to hear Adrien Brody finish his speech," he said that time.
In the clip acquired by New York Post, the If I Had Legs I’d Kick You actor said he felt that the opportunity to make a joke about Brody’s speech was "such a softball hanging there and I thought, 'Ehh.'"
"For a second I almost said that speech needed an intermission. Then I thought, 'I'm going to see him in a minute.' And his payback is coming from the world. People telling him for the rest of his life, 'Why Why!'" he said, per the outlet.
In his highly buzzed speech, Brody thanked his family, partner Georgina Chapman and her two children.
Conan O’Brien needs a Friend upcoming episode will air on April 20.
