John Abraham shares his experience with the rejections of The Diplomat from multiple OTT channels, citing that they didn't deem it 'great' enough.
During an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, the Jism debutant opened up about the pre-release buzz surrounding his film, which had been delayed multiple times.
According to John, he and Shivam Nair were the only ones who believed the film was truly extraordinary as he told the outlet, “When a studio sees the film, it goes and does a round of OTTs because a studio may want to mitigate the risk by sending it to an OTT channel when some OTT channels have refused The Diplomat because they didn’t find it great. They rejected the film; they threw it out.”
He revealed that despite the numerous challenges they faced, the film's success came as a shocking surprise to everyone else.
The Vedaa actor added, “In the case of The Diplomat, we have proved the studio wrong, the OTTs wrong, and everyone wrong. The best thing about The Diplomat is expectations of everyone were zero. So, from zero, when you go straight to a 10, people are like, ‘Oh, wow, this is crazy.’”
For the unversed, the film hit the big screens on the auspicious occasion of Holi.
