Imtiaz Ali made a shocking revelation about his 2024 movie Amar Singh Chamkila, stating that he never intended his musical/drama project to be perceived as a crime film.
The Tamasha director, who garnered recognition for his 2015 romantic drama project, explained his stance on showing the murder scene at the beginning of the film.
During an exclusive interview with Komal Nahta on his YouTube channel, the 53-year-old filmmaker clarified the controversy, saying “At first, I had written that this would happen, and then I thought, why did I write it?”
In addition, the Rockstar director unveiled that his primary aim was to showcase the Punjabi singer Chamkila’s love for music.
Speaking exclusively on YouTube, he added that he wanted to save the audience from the nerve-wracking moment.
Nevertheless, Amar Singh Chamkila, featuring Diljit Donsanjh and Parineeti Chopra, garnered recognition because of its in-depth portrayal of the Punjabi singer, often regarded as “Elvis Presle of Punjab”.
The Indian filmmaker’s 2024 film, which is inspired by a true story, was premiered in April on Netflix.
