Conan O'Brien, who is set to host the 2025 Academy Awards, has opened up about Hollywood's toughest gigs in the middle of the recent devastating wildfires, in Los Angeles.
While conversing with The Hollywood Reporter at the Sundance Film Festival, the 61-year-old, "This is a massive moment... This is a terrible thing that’s happened in Los Angeles."
The comedian emphasized on the need for humility and noted the importance of balancing sensitivity with entertainment.
Liza Powel O'Brien's husband explained that his team is still figuring out how to best address the situation, with the tone likely to evolve as the ceremony approaches.
Conan also mentioned the unpredictability of comedy, admitting that the show's direction might come together at the last minute. "We’ve got all our sensors out,"
He is also aiming to ensure the Oscars are both respectful to the affected communities and uplifting for viewers.
On the work front, Conan O’Brien is promoting his feature film debut, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, at Sundance, where he plays opposite Rose Byrne.
He described the acting experience as a learning curve, noting that it’s a far more structured process than comedy. The film will move on to the Berlin Film Festival after its Sundance premiere.
