Cher Lloyd, British singer-songwriter, recalled her time on the The X factor, where she earned a "villain" reputation.
In an interview with the BBC Newsbeat, Lloyd opened up about her experience at the show, calling it "a shock to the system."
"I had this illusion that the show was just going to be about singing and performing and I didn't realise that 80 or 90% of it was reality TV."
The Oath singer felt "really sad" when the tabloids and press shared stories about her "diva" behaviour on the show, turning some of the audience against the teenager.
"That was never my intention," I Wish crooner said. "I feel like it kind of overshadowed the reason why I was there and that was because I love to sing".
However, the Want U Back hitmaker failed to cope with negative attention and spiraled down into making "bad decisions".
She credited former One Direction star and late singer Liam Payne, saying, "He was always the level-headed one. He looked after everyone and he had this nurturing energy. And the passion that he had for performing was just unmatched."
After releasing the single None Of My Business in 2018, Cher Lloyd's musical activities has been sparse. During the five year gap, she focused on her personal life, including her marriage and raising her family. Recently, she released a new single Head Down in January 2025.
