Ethel Cain, who recently released new song Perverts, Ethel Cain's 'Strangers' belongs to her album Preacher's Daughter stirred controversy after making a provocative post that appeared to express support for violent action.

Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old made unethical remarks against the United States Congress and corporate leaders as she blamed them societal dysfunction.

Indie rock artist shared an image condemning major industries such as oil, ammunition, and insurance, along wrongful hashtags.

The post seemed to reference the recent shooting of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson, in New York and voicing support for the man charged with the crime, Luigi Mangione.

The singer suggested that “violence begets violence.”

In her post, Cain criticized the influence of corporate money on politics, stating, “Big Oil buys off Congress. No action on climate. The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns. Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care. The list goes on and on. Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.”

Later, Cain clarified her statement in a follow-up post, explaining that her remarks were not meant to be “edgy” but rather a response to the ongoing suffering she perceives in society.

“Sometimes it is necessary,” she said, addressing the idea of using violence to create change. You make them fear for their lives and hit them in the only place they hurt or nothing will ever get done.”

Cain continued by challenging the belief that “violence is never the answer,” stating, “sometimes it is.”

Cain concluded the post saying: “The world is burning and it’s very clear who’s holding the matches.”

On the work front, Ethel Cain has gained attention for the release of her album Perverts, as she blended her bold musical genre with her outspoken views.
