Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn are making a shocking admission about the financial dynamics of the industry, claiming that the actors don’t charge anything to star in the film.
During an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam actor opened up about entourage costs, actors’ fees, as well as their profit-sharing models.
Speaking of Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, the 55-year-old actor said that the revenues don’t directly translate into massive profits for the stars as they are used to compensate for the high costs associated with production.
While he admitted to collecting Rs. 226.5 at the box-office since its release in the first 16 days, Ajay noted, “It’s a myth that we are counting notes. The numbers people talk about, those are gross numbers. The numbers aren’t exactly what you think they are. It boils down 50 percent of what the gross collections are.”
In addition, the actor further went on to clear the misconception about the financial aspect of the industry.
He said, “The actors charge according to script and the film and most of us are charging according to the recovery of the film. It’s not vice versa.”
In response to Ajay’s claim, Akshay quickly chimed in, “Sometimes there is no amount also. Sometimes when you are producing an elaborate project you have to let go of the price that you were supposed to get. It’s also passion sometimes.”
