Anna Kendrick reveals 7 years long abusive relationship: ‘it was very, very difficult’
Anna Kendrick opens up on surviving in an abusive relationship for 7 years, ‘an overnight switch’
Anna Kendrick got candid of being involved in a relationship for 7 years in the past, about which she had very little to no idea was “abusive”.
Kendrick revealed how she found it very “difficult to identify” the condition of her relationship, and the true nature of her partner, whom she did not name.
“I was, like, reading all the articles and going, ‘This doesn’t look … like, some of it looks like how they’re describing it, but not completely,'” she said during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
“It was like an overnight switch … that went on for about a year. So it didn’t follow that more traditional, like, it’s like a frog in boiling water thing where it started slow,” the 39-year-old actress added.
Kendrick talked about first thinking she was the problem in her relationship, but later she realised that was not the case.
“It came out of absolutely nowhere, but was built on this foundation of I had so much love and trust for that person, so I thought it had to be me,” the Pitch Perfect actress explained.
“Like, if one of us is crazy, it must be me. So it was very, very difficult to actually go, ‘No, I think this is him. I think this is his stuff’. I turned my life completely upside down trying to fix whatever was wrong with me.”
