HBO's Harry Potter reboot has reportedly faced casting shake-up as Gracie Cochrane abruptly exited the series.

Just ahead of season 2 filming, Gracie, who portrays Ginny Weasley in the series, announced her departure.

In a statement to People Magazine, Gracie and her family shared that the young actress "made the challenging decision to step away from her role as Ginny Weasley in the HBO Harry Potter series after season 1" due to "unforeseen circumstances."

The statement continued, "Her time as part of the Harry Potter world has been truly wonderful, and she is deeply grateful to Lucy Bevan and the entire production team for creating such an unforgettable experience."

"Gracie is very excited about the opportunities her future holds," they concluded.

Furthermore, HBO also stated, "We support Gracie Cochrane and her family’s decision not to return for the next season of HBO’s Harry Potter series, and we are grateful for her work on season 1 of the show. We wish Gracie and her family the best."

This comes just months before the fantasy drama premiere on Christmas 2026. The first season, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone adapts the first novel in J.K. Rowling's beloved wizarding franchise.

Besides Gracie Cochrane, the TV series star Dominic McLaughlin for the role of Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton for Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout for Ron Weasley as the famous trio.
