Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan revealed that he resorted to alcohol after playing character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's, Devdas.
During a prestigious award ceremony, Khan talked about his career and timeless movies.
While talking about the character he played in Sanjay's 2002 blockbuster, the Baazigar actor opened up about being anxious during the shoot and turning towards drinking in order to ace the role.
Seemingly, he became addicted and continued his habit even after the completion of the shoot.
“It might have helped, but I started drinking after the film, and that’s one downside to it,” he expressed.
The 58-year-old star went on saying, “Nor did I want you to like him for being an alcoholic who runs away from every girl that he falls in love with. I just wanted him to appear indescribable.”
However, the Don star further elaborated that he accepted the role because of his mother, Lateef Fatima, “I just felt that if I made Devdas, she would really like it and appreciate it.”
He also admitted that he preferred to play the character because of artists like; Dilip Kumar, KL Saigal, and Uttam Kumar, who had played it flawlessly earlier.
On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan will be teaming up soon with Salman Khan in the highly expected film, Tiger vs Pathaan.
