Ranbir Kapoor makes 'bold' confession about Deepika Padukone's career choices
Ranbir Kapoor raises eyebrows over Deepika Padukone's career preferences
Ranbir Kapoor shared his thoughts on Deepika Padukone's character in Homi Adajania’s directorial Cocktail, claiming that it was "not the right film" for her.
During an exclusive interview with NDTV back in 2015, while the two were promoting Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha, the actress was asked if the Animal actor had advised her to streamline her selection process.
To which Deepika admitted that Ranbir had persuaded her to turn down Adajania's directorial, citing better offers on the table.
Supporting his claim, Ranbir argued that the Om Shanti Om actress had better offers at the time and she could have easily landed a far better role than Veronica.
He told the outlet, "She saw something special about Cocktail that probably I didn't see. So, I asked her, ‘why you're doing this film when you had so many good directors waiting to work with you? Why don't you do their films?’ I think that was solely her choice and her instinct which was greater than mine. But ya, as a friend, I just asked her, I questioned her."
The newly-turned mom then turned to the Rockstar alum for feedback after watching the 2012 starrer.
To her surprise, he didn't shy away from admitting that he was not a "big fan of the film."
On professional front, Deepika is currently gearing up for Rohit Shetty's upcoming film Singham Again, reuniting her with husband Ranveer Singh.
