Fiona Harvey gets ‘slap in the face’ with ‘Baby Reindeer’ Emmy nod
Richard Gadd's Netflix show 'Baby Reindeer' bagged 11 Emmy nominations
Baby Reindeer’s Emmy nomination has been dubbed an ignorant move against Fiona Harvey, the woman claimed to be the real-life stalker played by Jessica Gunning in the Netflix drama.
According to Daily Mail, Lawyer Richard Roth said that the recognition in the upcoming awards was the "latest slap in the face" of Harvey, who is suing Netflix for how she was portrayed in Richard Gadd’s mini-series.
He said Harvey has suffered "a life-changing tragedy" in the wake of the "brutal lies" depicted about her in the Netflix drama.
"There was some suggestion that the series shouldn’t have been nominated for Emmys because of this ongoing issue," the lawyer added, "Netflix claim that Baby Reindeer is a true story is clearly false."
For the unversed, last month, the Scottish woman filed a $170 million claim for damages in the Californian District Court against Netflix, suing for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and gross negligence.
In the court filings Harvey is described as "physically weak. She has and continues to experience anxiety, nightmares, panic attacks, shame, depression, nervousness, stomach pains, loss of appetite and fear, extreme stress and sickness, all directly caused by the lies told about her in Baby Reindeer."
Additionally, Harvey’s lawyer’s remarks come days after Baby Reindeer bagged a total of 11 Emmy nominations.
