Wild Thang finally bags 'Worlds Ugliest' title after trying for five years
The winner dog has won a cash prize of $5,000 and will also be the face of a limited edition product
Wild Thang was finally crowned the "World's Ugliest Dog" after trying for five years.
The contest, which judges’ canines on their extracurricular activities and appearances, named eight-year-old Pekingese from North Bend, Oregon, as its winner, USA Today reported.
The competition was held on Friday in Petaluma, California, during which each dog participant was given the chance to win the hearts of the audience and the sponsor company.
The top three contestants were given a cash pool prize of $10,000, out of which the first position won $5,000, the second winner won $3,000, and the third position holder won a $2,000 cash prize.
In addition, the winner dog has also been given the chance to feature on a limited edition product of the sponsor company.
This was Wild Thangs fifth attempt at winning. He won second place three times before finally winning the first position this year.
As per his bio, Wild Thang contracted distemper as a puppy from a rescue foster. It said, "He survived, but not without permanent damage. His teeth did not grow in, causing his tongue to stay out and his right front leg to paddle 24/7."
Last year, a hairless Chinese Crested pup named Scooter won the title. Scooter was born with deformed back legs and was rescued by the Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE) rescue group.
