Alia Bhatt expressed solidarity with Deepika Padukone amidst criticism surrounding her pregnancy bump.
Earlier this week, mom-to-be Deepika showcased her baby bump for the first time while voting in the fifth phase of the 2024 Mumbai Lok Sabha Election, accompanied by her husband, actor Ranveer Singh.
Soon after her appearance, many photos of her circulated online, some social media users resorted to body-shaming her.
As online trolling increased, journalist Faye D’Souza voiced her support for Deepika on Instagram.
She shared a post and penned, “Dear social media, Deepika Padukone stepped out to do her democratic duty and vote. She did not ask for your feedback on her body or her pregnancy. You have no right to comment on any aspect of her life. Stop it. Behave.”
Several celebrities responded to the post, with Alia Bhatt showing support by liking the post.
Moreover, Alia's sisters, Pooja Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, as well as their mother, Soni Razdan, also showed their support by liking the post.
As soon as the post was shared, many fans took to the comment section to express their agreement.
One wrote, "EXACTLY!!! imagine body shaming a pregnant woman? and most of the comments are by women especially mothers! Shameful really!!, while other penned, "Exactly man.. people have lost it."
For the unversed, Deepika and Ranveer announced the news of their pregnancy in February 2024, sharing a post, revealing the due date September 2024.
