WhatsApp is increasing its video status length options through a new update on which the Meta app has been working on.
Video statuses on WhatsApp can now reach a maximum time of one minute for selected beta users. The status video time limit was only 30 seconds earlier, according to WABetaInfo.
The new change brings WhatsApp precisely in line with competitors like Instagram and Messenger, as both of these apps already offer 60 second video status or story options.
Users have been allowed to either record a video directly within the app or upload an already existing video from their phone’s storage. However, in both cases, the prior maximum length of 30 seconds was often proved as restrictive for users.
The beta programme users can now record or upload one-minute video clips directly to their statuses. This eradicates the need to cut longer videos into multiple, potentially disjointed segments.
WhatsApp’s new status feature offers many benefits. First of all, it permits for a more comprehensive and natural flow in video storytelling. Through this, users can now express themselves in greater detail without time shortage concerns.
Secondly, the change makes a more consistent user experience across different social media platforms.
