Rajkummar Rao reflects on industry challenges stemming from small-town background
Rajkummar Rao starrer Srikanth, will be released on May 10, 2024
Rajkummar Rao remembered being replaced in films because other prominent actors wanted the roles.
During an interview with India Today, the 39-year-old actor mentioned that he felt a bias from a segment of the film industry due to his background hailing from a small town.
The Stree star expressed deep surprise and shock upon realizing that such occurrences are prevalent in the Hindi film industry.
He said, “Initially I was replaced from a couple of films, because some other big actors wanted to do it. I was like, ‘Wow, this also happens here.'”
Revealing that besides being replaced, he encountered a specific bias from industry insiders, Rajkummar said, “Apart from being replaced, a lot of people would often see me in a certain way. Because I came from a small town, they looked at me in a certain way."
"They would even question how I could be a lead actor in a film,” Rajkummar added.
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao will next be seen in the fil, Srikanth, portraying the role of entrepreneur Srikanth Bolla.
The film is scheduled to release on May 10, 2024.
