Manisha Koirala recalled feeling shaken during her initial visit to the Heeramandi set, recounting how Sanjay Leela Bhansali suggested she go home.
During an exclusive interview with DNA India, the 53-year-old actress lauded the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and described the web series as his magnum opus.
The Dil Se star said, “I requested Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) to see the set because I wanted to immerse myself in Mallikajaan’s world. When I first saw the set, I was taken aback."
"I became so nervous because it hit me that I am going to be part of this," she added.
Having spent a few hours on set, Manisha reminisced about Bhansali's request for her to go home, as he aimed for her to appear refreshed for the shoot the following day.
She exclaimed, "I couldn’t tell him that I was shaking because I was so much in awe of the whole environment."
For the unversed, Manisha Koirala is preparing for the debut of her upcoming web series, Heeramandi, directed by the renowned Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The series showcases Bhansali's majestic signature style, delving into tales of love and betrayal amidst courtesans in pre-independence India.
Manisha takes on the role of Mallikajaan in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which will premiere on Netflix starting May 1st.
