Vidya Balan said female-led films often make male actors uncomfortable.
In a conversation with Indian Express, the Bollywood actress, who has delivered some powerful performances in Hindi films, shared that male actors do not like women grabbing all the attention in the movies.
She said, "Back in the day? (rolls eyes) I don’t think they’d be okay even today to star in a Vidya Balan film or a female-led film for that matter."
Vidya added, "It’s their loss honestly because we are doing better films than they are. I genuinely believe that. They are doing more formulae-based films, women-led films are far more exciting."
The Dirty Picture actress admitted that women-led films have been receiving appreciation from audiences, however, "male stars are uncomfortable with women taking centre stage."
The actress continued, "I don’t think they’d be okay with anyone stealing the thunder. But I never felt bad. I was like if they are threatened, what can I do? (laughs)."
On the professional front, Vidya will be next seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar alongside Pratik Gandhi. The film is all set to release in cinemas on April 19.
